LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Association of Black Family Medicine Physicians was started by students and residents and its students and residents that have come together to provide most of the foundation that helps ABFMP operate today. We are excited for you to become a part of our journey of development to become an organization that supports the elevation of Black individuals in Family Medicine.

How will I benefit from being involved in the ABFMP?
You will have the opportunity to:

Network with other Black students, residents, and physicians working towards the similar goals and who also share common interests and concerns

Participate in leadership workshops for ABFMP leaders with leading Black Family Medicine physicians

Lead in the elevation of Black individuals in Family Medicine through the execution of collaborative planning
-
Cultivate organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

Are there special requirements for positions?
You must

Be a current ABFMP member
-
Commit to serving in the position for one to two years depending on the position (see leadership position descriptions)

Be confident that you have the time to attend meetings and do the work required for each position. You must therefore know your institution or residency program's attendance policies. See role-specific descriptions regarding meetings and attendance requirements.

Be able to attend a majority of the leadership meetings. Details will be provided at a later time but know that meetings will not occur more that 4 times a year. So

Does it cost me anything to participate?

The only thing it costs is your time! All meetings will be held virtually.

Can I apply to more than one position?

Applicants can apply for up to three positions in the ABFMP. This includes the Website and Marketing positions.
